Here are some things you need to think about:

* Hardiness Zone – Not all plants flourish in this part of the country. What Zone Are you in?
* Soil – What is your soil like? Is it rocky? Is it clay? It all makes a difference.
* Sun Light – Does the shrub/perennial or tree need full sun? Partial shade?
* Drainage & Watering – how much water will the plant need? Is it too wet?
* Stone Mulch beds – if you have stone mulch, some plants can’t tolerate the heat created from the sun beating on the stone.
