Containers for Spring / Summer
When it comes to planting in containers we all have different ideas on what type of plants and colors to use. That goodness! or we would all have the same ideas. “And what fun is that!”
Make sure and read the label on the plants you are going to use in your containers. Does this plant require full sun or shade?
Do you ever go past that store or even down town in your home town and see the gorgeous containers or hanging baskets displayed out and wonder, “How do they get them to look like that” Well, I’m going to tell you, Fertilizing is the key to a healthy full beautiful plants. There are a number of different products to use. I suggest to go to your local Nursery and ask them what is best fertilizer to use for your plants. I use Proven Winners products.
Did you know you can also plant a perennial, shrub or tree in a container. The container should be large enough to accommodate the tree or shrub. Some examples of popular shrubs and trees are boxwood’s, arborvitae, Lilac, Hydrangea’s, lemon and lime Trees.
Reminder, Select a variety that will thrive in our climate and with the right light exposure. Growing trees in large pots comes with a few special considerations — not all trees and shrubs are happy to grow in containers. There are plenty that tolerate it just fine.
