Echinacea/Coneflowers

Echinacea commonly known as Coneflowers are native to Eastern and Central North America and are a perennial in the Daisy family. They can grow 2-4 feet in height and attract butterflies, bees and birds. Coneflowers are drought and heat tolerant as well as deer resistant. They come in a variety of colors from orange, red, pink, yellow, purple, white and green. Coneflowers are fast growing and can bloom through midsummer to Fall frost. Echinacea were used by the early Native Americans to treat wounds and infections.

PLANTING
Coneflowers will adapt to most soil types, but prefer well drained soil.Coneflowers prefer to be in full sun but they will tolerate light shade. Its best to plant Coneflowers in Spring or early Summer. If you plan to divide and transplant Coneflowers do so in Spring or Fall.

ECHINACEA CARE
Coneflowers are a low maintenance perennial. They just need regular watering about an inch per week and optional to be cut back in Fall. If your Coneflowers are small or poorly developed you can work a little bit of compost into the soil to help care for them.

Long blooming, well-branched, sturdy with decorative seed heads. These bright yellow blooms can brighten your landscape.

 

 

 

Salsa Red: Flowering Height: 16”-18” Spread: 16”-22”
Big bright red flowers that bloom in July-September. Perfect to add a bright pop of color to any garden bed.
