Watering Plants

June is here! We all know that means high temperatures and unpredictable rain patterns. All of us want our lawn and garden looking its absolute best. We want to make sure you know exactly how and when to water your plants to ensure they get the spotlight they deserve. We are here to give you some useful tips to get you on a path to success.

#1-WATER PLACEMENT– Always make sure your plants are getting even water distribution. Watering on one side of the plant will cause one-sided root growth and leads to insufficient nutrient absorption. So, take the time to make sure you get completely around each plant. Try your hardest to avoid the leaves. Aim at the base of the plant to avoid the risk of getting leaf-mold diseases and burns.

#2- TIMING– While it is okay to water lightly throughout the day you want to get most of your watering done in the early morning or late evening. Water is best absorbed on cool soil and provides a more sufficient amount of hydration to your plants, so they are prepared for the next day’s heat.

#3-AMOUNTS– The amount you should give your plants will vary depending on the plant itself but following our guidelines and watering instructions will help you gauge about how much water you should be providing. If your plant requires more water, do not forget to give it time to soak into the soil. Watering plant’s daily/nightly in 3 “courses” with 4-5 minutes between will allow it to get to the root!

Following these few useful tips will help you make sure you get a beautiful full bloom on all your plants. Remember, Valley View is here to help, and we are available to answer any questions you may have!
