What is Black Knot?
Black knot is a common fungal disease of Prunus trees including ornamental, edible, and native plum and cherry trees. They are hard swollen black galls (tumor like growths) that form on branches and occasionally on the trunk of the tree.
Depending on how severely the tree is affected by black knot it can be treated if caught early. The disease becomes progressively worse during each growing season if not taken care of, it can stunt or kill your tree.
