May 2021 Newsletter

Hello!

Valley View Landscaping has been super busy thanks to you all and we just wanted to say thank you! Not only for being a customer but for your patience as we get busy. Please keep in mind that weather can sometimes be a constraint with our scheduling. We are working hard but when the weather doesn’t comply that pushes off not just one job but everyone’s job unfortunately.

Native Plants

May will have nicer weather that means many of us will be or have started planting. Let’s talk about Native plants and why they are so beneficial to our environment. What is a Native plant you ask? It is a plant that was established in our environment prior to European settlement. Native plants are key to attracting bumble bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies.
Did you know those pesky dandelions that many of us can’t stand are actually beneficial to pollinators. The next time you look at your lawn and see dandelions popping up remember that they may be unsightly to us but they are also feeding the bumble bees that are endangered.

Native Perennials

The list below only contains a few native plant options. There are many options to choose from. Some things to keep in mind prior to planting these plants are what type of soil you have, sunlight the plant needs and the height of the plant.

Purple Coneflower

These require full sun-part shade and can grow 2-4’ in height. Blooms from June-September.
